Professor Verkijika Fanso

Prof Fanso is a retired University Professor from the University of Yaoundé I where he taught for over 36 years before going on retirement in July 2011. He has also been a visiting Professor and a fellow to Universities beyond Cameroon, some of which include the University of Hamburg, Germany; Oxford and Cambridge in the United Kingdom; The Universities of Indiana; Grinnell College, Iowa; and the Trident Technical College in the US. As a University Don he has published widely and is famous for the publication of his college History Book volume I and II that led to the introduction of the History of Cameroon in the Cameroon GCE Ordinary and Advance Levels.

Apart from serving as a university don, he also served with the central administration of Cameroon as the Director of Archives and Patrimony in the Ministry of Culture.

Though, on retirement he continues to supervise PhD students at the University of Yaounde I, and offering courses at the African Union Pan African University in Yaounde.

As a civil society man, he is the Founder and President of the Association of Friends of Archives and Antiquities (AFAAC).

Professor Fanso has a special conviction and believes in giving back to his country especially through the youth who are the future leaders of Cameroon. It is for this reason that he readily accepted to serve as the Chair of the Board of Directors of CAMYOSFOP. His thoughtful ideas and advices have been very helpful in the successes of CAMYOSFOP.
